Objective: The Sir Walter Junior High Power Rifle program is organized to promote rifle marksmanship and safety with firearms.

Participants: Both boys and girls age 10 to 20 are encouraged to participate in the Junior High Power Rifle program.

Cost: The annual dues are $20.00 per year. Ammunition cost is subsidized by the Club, and is priced to the team member at $110.00 per 1,000 rounds.

Program: The junior high power program is based on the National Rifle Association's High Power Rifle program. The shooting positions include prone, sitting, and standing.

Awards: Awards may be presented to the junior shooter based upon their performance in competitions. The NRA classification system is used, and shooters will be classified on their ability from Marksman, through Sharpshooter, Expert, Master, and High Master.

Equipment: The Sir Walter Junior High Power Rifle Team provides all of the equipment needed for a junior shooter to compete, including rifles, shooting jackets, shooting mats, scopes gloves, slings, eye protection and ear protection. Each junior is encouraged to eventually obtain their own personal eye and ear protection that they find to be most comfortable for them.

Instructors: National Rifle Association certified instructors will be present at each scheduled Junior event to assist and coach juniors in the principles of Marksmanship.. NRA certified Range Safety Officers supervise the operation of the firing range at all times.

Contact: For additional information, contact the Sir Walter Junior High Power Shooting Coordinator at e-mail address .
